Year 5 – Lesson 6 – Writing and testing algorithms
In this final lesson of the unit, learners will build on the designs they developed in the previous lesson by creating an algorithm to meet the requirements of the given task. They will identify how they are going to use selection before writing their algorithm. They will then move into the code level to test their algorithm by implementing it as a program, running it, identifying any bugs and returning to the algorithm to debug it where necessary. Finally, they will conclude the unit by evaluating their algorithms and other areas of their designs.
Learning objectives

- I can use selection to produce an intended outcome
- I can test and debug my project
